Finding Time to Watch Japanese Drama

I haven’t watch Japanese dorama for ages.

It’s not that I haven’t have any chance to sit in solitude in front of my laptop watching streaming episodes, nor the tv to watch bootleg Japanese drama DVDs. I rarely watch TV or anything. I don’t think it’s a good idea to watch while spending time with Chloe. I feel like I would be neglectful. I would be concentrating on the screen and not paying much attention to her. Naturally, she will also be fixated to the screen. The thoughts of Chloe being overly stimulated, being more and more addicted to TV as she grows older and exposing her to inappropriate content are enough deterrent. So no TV other than Baby Einsten for half an hour every day.

Christmas on July 24th Avenue

It’s our first holiday season as husband and wife. Aww. I know. We are a lazy couple. We are planning to laze around until tonight’s dinner and Christmas Eve service. We just rolled around our bed watching reruns of the Master Chef two final episodes as my mother in law’s maids were cleaning our condo. When our pizza delivery arrived, we moved to the living room for lunch.

Christmas on July 24th Avenue

We finished lunch and James had a food coma. He gestured me to scoot over and started snuggling on the couch with his head on my lap. I flipped through the channel and caught the beginning of ‘Christmas on July 24th Avenue‘. I thought watching a Japanese Christmas romantic comedy at this moment was kind of cute.

Yankee-kun to Megane-chan: Why I Switched from Drama to Manga

Yankee-kun to Megane-chan was originally created as a manga and recently adapted to a drama. I just discovered it the other way around. I needed a break from reading too many manga too much the other day. I browsed mysoju.com, and chose to watch Yankee-kun to Megane-chan drama because of the interesting title.

Synopsis from drama wiki:

Shinagawa Daichi used to be a good student who has now become a delinquent, while class president Adachi Hana was a delinquent who is now trying to move on. Her secret is discovered by Shinagawa, but she involves herself trying to correct his ways.

I have a good first impression of the Yankee-kun to Megane-chan (yannmega) drama, it was quite hillarious. While Narimiya Hiroki’s acting is a bit to the cheesy side, but Shinagawa Daichi’s character that he was playing is entertaining. The real star of the drama, in my opinion is Naka Riisa. She plays her role as Adachi Hana, a nagging class representative very well.

Old School Drama Pick: 101 Marriage Proposal

101 Marriage Proposal is the third Japanese drama title I had watched. It aired in 1991 making it almost 2 decades old. I have not watched the drama again ever since, but I still remember it as very touching.

Synopsis from DramaWiki:

101st Marriage Proposal is a “Beauty and the Beast” story starring Takeda Tetsuya (Virgin Road, 3-nen B-gumi Kinpachi Sensei) as a down-on-his-luck man who has gone through 99 omiai (arranged dates with the intention of marriage if the date goes well). Not particularly smart, nor handsome, nor rich, he is a man who cannot lie and of course, has a heart of pure gold. On the 100th omiai, he meets Kaoru (Asano Atsuko), an extremely beautiful and talented cellist who can’t forget her dead fiancee.

How can this two opposite characteristics exists in one individual? When Asuka was a child, his father deliberately confessed to Asuka and his mother that he had a secret dream to be a woman.
